There’s a lot I want to do with the Divine Minimal brand in 2019. It’s been a brain child of mine for over a year. I have lists and notes jotted all over my planner and notebooks about the things I want to try to do with this space. Actually starting this blog was something I was putting off because I was afraid of it not being perfect enough. How ridiculous is that? One, nothing is ever perfect because perfect isn’t a tangible thing that anyone can acquire. Two, you can’t work towards “perfect” if you don’t start. So I started and now here we are.
I’m not very far into this journey and I know to get where I want to be, there’s a lot of hard work ahead of me. Sometimes it’s hard to feel motivated or inspired, but there are a few ladies that I follow online that never cease to make me want to get a move on, and I thought it would be nice to give them a shout out and share them with you guys. I love to share the love, so let’s get to it.
I found Maddie’s Youtube channel at the end of last year while I was looking for declutter videos. Her channel is probably the first real introduction I had to the idea of minimalism. I binge watched all of her declutter videos (as well as her other content) and immediately started to go through my own things. Finding her also led me to find a lot of other channels and people online that were doing similar things. She’s such a positive force of energy in her videos without being unrealistic. She talks a lot about her minimalism journey, her struggles with an eating disorder and over-shopping, and also has tons of awesome vegan recipe videos. If you’re interested in minimalism at all, I highly recommend checking out her channel.
I found Victoria’s Youtube channel recently and binged tons of her videos, as well as the stuff from her vlog channel. She talks a lot about charting your menstrual cycle as well as menstrual health in general. She’s also a minimalist, and a vegan, which always draws me in. Her videos are really informative and helpful. I also just think she’s a really cool, authentic person. She posts a decent amount about things like her morning routine and her bullet journal as well which I find particularly helpful and inspiring for ways to tackle my own work ethic and time management.
I adore Harmony’s Youtube channel and she also has an absolutely beautiful Instagram page. Harmony gives me my necessary dose of all things witchy and paranormal. Finding her videos about Wicca really helped to reignite my love for my craft. She also wrote a book recently about Wicca in the modern era which is incredibly cool. I haven’t read it yet but I’m hoping to at some point next year. I just think she’s a really awesome, authentic person, and I admire how she puts herself out there for the world. She’s open and honest with her viewers and I appreciate how real she is with her content.
Okay, Rhian is probably one of my favorite internet people ever. I found her, again, through Youtube, when I first went cruelty free. She is a cruelty free and vegan beauty/lifestyle Youtuber who also focuses on mental health. One, her content is excellent and really helpful and relatable. Two, she seems like such a cool person and I wish I could be best friends with her. Three, she’s pretty funny. Four, her Instagram stories are always great and she posts a lot about her dogs. Five, she has an incredible sense of style. If you go follow anyone on this list, make it be Rhian, you will not be disappointed.
5. Jenna Marbles: Youtube
Who doesn’t know who Jenna Marbles is at this point, right? I’ve been watching Jenna on Youtube for years. I think she’s hysterical and it’s been really cool to see how she’s grown and changed over the course of her time on Youtube. I also watch her boyfriend Julien’s vlog channel, and listen to their podcast. They’re both super cool people who don’t get involved in drama or bullshit, and I just love how Jenna is doing her own thing and having fun. She’s not particularly concerned about “being an adult” or living to fit into a mold of what a woman “should be” -she’s just doing her thing. Plus, she’s vegan, so that’s pretty cool.
Who inspires you? I’d love to know. I’m always looking for new, awesome people to follow. Also, this is by no means a complete list. I follow a lot of really excellent women on various social media platforms, but when I sat down to write this post, these were the five that really stuck out.
